Longtime Cooney & Conway Attorney James Newman Announces Retirement

After nearly 40 years in practice, James T. Newman, a highly-regarded  and successful personal injury attorney has announced his retirement from the Chicago law firm of Cooney & Conway.

Mr. Newman joined Cooney & Conway in 1978, earning his first jury verdict in 1979. He has obtained multi-million-dollar settlements and verdicts in both state and federal court on behalf of asbestos victims and their families. In addition to verdicts and settlements in the areas of asbestos disease, product liability, transportation negligence, construction liability, and medical malpractice, Mr. Newman has also written major appellate briefs on behalf of victims who were victorious at the trial courts. His briefs have been written to protect consumers against corporate and insurance industry attacks.

Mr. Newman plans to travel in the cold months and play golf when it’s warm. He will become a grandfather  in the Spring, and eagerly anticipates spending time with his new grandchild.
