Britney R. Pennycook

Britney R. Pennycook graduated cum laude from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2018.  Britney joined Cooney & Conway as a law clerk in 2016 and returned as an attorney in July of 2024. Britney practices in all areas of personal injury law including products liability, construction negligence, premise liability, motor vehicle negligence, federal civil rights, animal control act, ride share, toxic torts, and legal malpractice.

 

Prior to joining Cooney & Conway, Britney worked as an associate attorney at Corboy & Demetrio, a plaintiff's personal injury firm in Chicago, where she represented victims of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death. Prior to that, she worked at another plaintiff’s personal injury firm in Chicago, Phillips Law Offices, where she worked on matters including multi-district litigation cases involving transvaginal mesh implants, and federal civil rights cases.

 

Britney was selected to the 2023 edition of Best Lawyers "Ones to Watch in America" in the area of Personal Injury Litigation - Plaintiffs, a prestigious nationwide legal directory. In addition, she was selected to Lawdragon 500 X - the Next Generation, a guide of the top 500 up-and-coming attorneys nationwide.

 

Since 2022, Britney has been selected to Illinois Rising Stars, which is limited to the top 2.5% of attorneys in the state. Also, in 2022, she was appointed to serve on the Chicago Bar Association's Judicial Evaluation Committee.

 

Since 2021, Britney has been selected to Emerging Lawyers by Leading Lawyers, an honor given to fewer than 2% of attorneys in Illinois. In 2020, she was named to The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, which are both highly selective.

 

As a law student, Britney was selected for the Philip H. Corboy Fellowship in Trial Advocacy where she practiced over 400 hours per semester learning advanced trial techniques. As a Corboy Fellow, Britney won first place in a national trial competition and second place in a regional trial competition. In addition, Britney worked in the Loyola Community Law Clinic as a student law clerk from 2017-2018, advocating on behalf of minors as a court-appointed guardian ad litem. She served as Junior Editor of the Children's Legal Rights Journal from 2016-2017. Britney also served as captain of Loyola's Criminal Mock Trial Team from 2016 to 2017. In 2016, she worked as a legal intern for Sneckenberg Thompson & Brody.

 

Britney is a 2015 graduate of Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy Analysis and Certificate in Business Foundations.

 

Britney is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois, and she is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice and Chicago Bar Association.
